Family vs. Interstate Snow

My family and I have been placed 150 miles northwest of where we live. Our mission is to navigate the interstate highway system through snow, wind, traffic, and darkenss to arrive at civilization, or at least our warm beds and our lonely siamese cat. For sustenance we survive on McDonald's drive through. It occurs to me that the beauty of the falling snow I witnessed hours earlier along the shore of Lake Michigan has turned into treacherous snow and slush. We forge ahead. McDonald's dollar menu is our resting point. We see the unfortunate ones who won't make it until a tow truck comes. Our minivan manages to stay on pavement. Finally we exit onto city streets covered with snow. Our cat greets us and our beds are not far behind. Again, we have survived the elements.

  1. Amen to that! Making it home was no easy task. Maybe our tires are not so bad after all.
